My name is Melissa Hay and I have been teaching at Byers for over 25 years!  I hold a Bachelor and Master’s degree in Education. Kindness is my motto!  At the end of the day what is most fulfilling for me as a teacher, is to watch “my children” grow into kind human beings.  My goal is to reach every student at their level and achieve academic success as well as social emotional well-being.  My family and I like to spend time together.  We love to travel and explore old and new places.  Some of our favorite places to visit are the ocean, snorkeling with sea turtles, and the mountains, watching for wildlife!  When I retire I hope to snuggle a sloth and also guide newly hatched sea turtles to the ocean!
