COVID-19 Changes

Hello Byers Secondary Parents and Students,

We appreciate your patience through these difficult times. Byers Junior Senior High School will implement on line education this week through Google Classrooms with some teachers starting Wednesday, March 25, 2020.

All students will need to access their school email through outlook. Go to portal.office.com to enter in your username. All (7-12 grade) passwords have been reset to Password1.

When you come in to the school to gather class materials on Tuesday, you will be given a spreadsheet of class codes to access your Google Classroom for each period. If the class code does not work, you will need to email the teacher to let them know. The teacher will then manually add you with your SCHOOL email and you will need to accept the invitation to the class.

The school will be open Tuesday, March 24th through Friday, March 27th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm for students to come in
to check out text books and computers, if needed. At this time students can clean out their hall and PE lockers. We will monitor the number of students in the building, so there may be a wait time.

Here is the link to the Google Classroom "Class Code" document.

BYERS SECONDARY

Byers High School offers a wide range of academic programs. These include English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science and Physical Education.  Our Business Department provides students access to word processing to improve writing skills and advanced applications. Fine arts offerings include Vocal music, Band, and Art. A variety of clubs and other extracurricular activities are also available.

Byers students can take advantage of the Sophomore Scholars program. Through this program the Byers School District, in collaboration with Morgan Community College, offers college classes for qualified students, and the public, in accordance with the PSEO Legislation in Colorado. While in high school, students can finish 30 credits from MCC and then apply for the Sophomore Scholars program which guarantees financial aid for the second year of the two year Associate degree. Many students have graduated from this program with a substantial part of their first two years of college completed and only had to pay for books and fees.
