As far as I can remember, Costa Rica was the best part of my childhood. I grew up there from the ages of 4 to 7. Many of the memories have been filled in by my parents, but some are still very clear; a part of my life I will always treasure and am blessed to have had. My parents were missionaries growing up until we moved back to the states in 1978. Today they continue to be involved and have their own non-profit organization. I have an older brother, Darin and 2 nieces and 2 nephews. My sister Andrea passed away at the age of 30 from cancer. She left behind her husband and two young boys in 2004. I went to school starting in the 3rd grade in Mission Viejo, CA and graduated from college at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, CA. I am married with two beautiful girls. My husband is a Rep for an Agri-Sales company, my oldest Sheridan (22), lives in Greeley working at a pre-school/daycare facility, my youngest, Laramie (19), is a freshman in college pursuing a Business degree. I had started teaching in Evans, Colorado as a K/1 teacher back in 1996, took a year off to be with the girls when we moved to Encampment, WY as my husband spent a year working on a ranch there in 2001. When we returned to Colorado, we both taught at the Strasburg Schools for 12 years. I was a 4th grade teacher for the majority of the time, and Steve taught at the High School level and was the head wrestling coach. The last three years as a 4th grade teacher, was in Commerce City, a unique experience for sure. I want to thank those that have welcomed me to Byers. I am ecstatic to be here and have loved every minute of it. Teaching will always be my passion.
